Profile
I spent my first nine years of my Canada life as a university student. My academic credentials and teaching experience were not recognized. My dream for my family did not meet the Canadian reality. I had to go back to school to prove my abilities and my worth. Like you, I sought counselling services too.
I had to accept that my old me (well-educated with an established career) was gone and I had to build a new me in a foreign country that became my new home. Like me, you have your own stories to tell.
From my years of experience as a therapist, the common underlying causes of students’ hardships are cultural expectations and differences, identity issues, family dynamics, psychological disorders, and negative patterns of thinking and behaving. I commend you for exploring help. This is the beginning of your journey to understand why you are stuck and could not move on.
My approach in therapy depends on your goals and needs. I do not force a specific method of therapy to clients. Most of the time, I use an eclectic approach – mostly solution-focused therapy combined with family systems therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and person-centered therapy.
I am professional member of Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) with a professional designation of a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). With my education as well as my clinical training, I believe that I can help you explore your challenges and make positive changes in your life.
I can render service in English and in Filipino.
