My goal is to create a safe space where you can process circumstances well with supportive insight and practical guidance so you can thrive. Clients tell me that they feel deeply understood and accepted during their work with me, and that as a result, they are better able to understand and accept themselves. People often say they appreciate my caring, non-judgemental nature, and the way I’m able to gently inspire them to adopt healthy perspectives and resilience. I view each session as an opportunity to meet you where you are, and to empower you to take brave, manageable steps toward where you want to be.
I operate from a trauma-informed lens and use a holistic approach, combining evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), maintaining a systemic and developmental perspective, to help create the therapeutic space that feels like a good fit for you. My collaborative, solution-focused lens will help you identify patterns that may be holding you back, clarify your desires, cultivate motivation for change, set attainable goals, and develop a clear plan for how to achieve the milestones you have identified.
About Me: I completed a Doctorate of Ministry in Marriage and Family Therapy from Denver Seminary and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Providence Seminary. I am a Certified Professional Counsellor (CPC), and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). Although my training and background emphasized counselling through a faith-based perspective, I work with individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life and belief systems. Matters of faith will only be part of our conversation if it is important to you.
For the past 20 years, I have served in various capacities, including private practice as a life coach and therapist, prison chaplain, community pastor, and trauma training facilitator. My wife and I co-founded a national charity that builds community capacity to effectively care for children and families in hard places since 2014.
